THE GROOVE MERCHANTS ARE BACK ! These guys captivated the audience the last time they were in town. The bring the funk, soul and blues with the top notch musicianship to back it up. DO NOT MISS THIS SHOW!
The Groove Merchants are here to throw down and break out.
Fueled with howling vocals from frontman Tye Vallone, driven by Luke Ferracone’s guitar work, and insured through focused horn sounds and a hustling backbeat from bassist John Evin Groome and Peter Snyder on drums, the band twists in elements of blues, funk and soul resulting in a revival of authentic performance.
Since 2012, The Groove Merchants have been pushing that sound forward. Founded out of the practice rooms and Main Street basements of Kutztown University in Pennsylvania, the band discovered their chemistry almost instantly.
It was in those first live performances when they really set into motion and revealed the full capacity for what their sound would grow to become: tireless, faithful, throw-down grooves. The energy shot out from the stage is what pushes The Groove Merchants to continue making music and challenge what we listen to.
2014 saw the release of their debut album, produced and engineered at the Music Centre in Exton, PA. This complete collection of songs proved to demonstrate the gravity of The Groove Merchants.
Adding Dylan Hinnershitz on trumpet to the mix in 2015 only provided depth to the Groove Merchants sound. A second effort, “Take It,” was released in 2016 under the ListeningPost label featuring a 4-piece horn section on several tracks. From there the band received radio air time, and their single, “Hold You Hand” was featured on Philly’s Alternative Rock station 104.5FM.
The live performances didn’t stop. Continuing to travel all over the Lehigh Valley, Philadelphia area, Rehoboth Beach, and even making a tour down to Nashville, the band boasts a healthy string of monthly residencies at local venues as well as appearances on larger stages throughout the East Coast. Highlights include an appearance at the iHeartRadio Summer Block Party, sharing the stage with Vance Joy, Portugal. The Man, and Judah and The Lion down on Festival Pier at Penn’s Landing, as well as opening for world-renowned bluesman John Nemeth at the historic Mauch Chunk Opera House in Jim Thorpe, PA. The Groove Merchants have also shared the stage with New York Soul/Blues outfit Sister Sparrow and the Dirty Birds at the popular Steel Stacks arts and music venue in Bethlehem, PA.
The Groove Merchants seek to maintain that same dynamic level they have always had, while continuing to add another layer to their involved mix. Fresh horn players are always revolving in the GM sound including the likes of Philly tenor ace Nils Mossblad. The band’s third full-length studio effort, entitled “The Throne,” is due out in August of 2019.
Celebrate what happens when The Groove Merchants control the room. With each performance, the band strives to create an energy that lies inside intimate clubs and transcends past large stages. Once The Groove Merchants show up, expect relentless, soulful energy and a belief in connecting beyond music.
